My husband had a brain tumor!!!!!

never thought in a 100 years I would say this statement.......life has turned upside down in a week....I don't have time to tell the whole story but here's the run down...

Saturday the 29th of March........Brad coached basketball for the youth at church and came home at 1pm and said, I have a headache.   He took some Motrin.   No big deal!

Sunday the 30th of March.......woke up for church and he said he had a headache! took Motrin, went to church came home and slept until 5pm when we were having friends over for dinner.

Monday and Tuesday......went to work late, came home, did not eat dinner, went to bed.   Cried about how bad his head hurt and thought it might explode.   He kept teasing saying he had a tumor and we were all laughing at him about being a big baby.....everyone gets headaches and don't have tumors.

Wednesday April 2- Went to work and called me at noon saying he couldn't work anymore and came home.   I told him he needed to go to the doctors  my brother took him at 3pm.   He had high blood pressure 140/100.........the doctor said that was causing his headache and gave him meds to lower the blood pressure.   She even told Brad the last thing on her list was a tumor.

Thursday - Stayed home from work, doctor called to see how he was doing and he told her better.   I called back and told her he was lying!   He was mad and she told me to take him to radiology at the hospital and she would order an emergency CT scan.  He was then super mad because he was so sick he didn't think he could make it to the hospital.

I had all 4 kids with me, the lady registering us took forever their were issues with the fax from the doctor, it was long and horrible.  I was throwing a birthday party at my house for Elder Roundy and the Kay's were coming over.   So I ran the kids home and the Kay's were their cooking dinner, throwing the party, and took the kids. LIFE SAVERS!!!!!

I got back to the hospital and brad was done and they told us to sit in a big waiting room of people and when the phone on the wall rang it was for us with the results.   We were waiting forever and I turned to brad and told him I was going to throw up and I knew in my gut it was bad!

Sure enough the phone rang and in that waiting room surrounded by strangers we got the worst news of our life.   They found a 2.5cm mass in brads brain.  They told us to either go home and in the next week they would schedule more tests or go to the ER.....obviously we were going to the ER!!!!!

We checked in at 6pm and was finally seen by a doctor at midnight......as my husband is dying of pain from a brain tumor....wonderful medical system!!!!!  They did an MRI and it confirmed he had a mass but not sure if it really was a tumor or blood clot or brain bleed.  The ER doctor told us he doesn't know much about the brain and to go home and find a neurologist and gave us a number to one.  Looking back we should never had been discharged!!!!!

We left at 4am Friday morning.

Friday - neurologist would not see us until Monday....I was so mad!!!  But they prescribed anti seizure meds, steroids, and pain pills.

We made it through the weekend and to Monday morning.

Monday the 7th - Saw neurologist at 7:30am and he told us he does not do brain masses we needed a neurosurgeon.....I'm not happy.....so I threw a fit until he gets me into a neurosurgeon at 2pm.  No one sees a neurosurgeon that quickly!  We show up at the office 38miles away and it was closed because a bird that flew into a transmitter and caught on fire and they had no power!   I was not leaving until I saw a doctor so we waited 2 hours.

The doctor said it was either a brain bleed or a tumor and didn't know which.  But if it was a brain bleed then steroids would make it smaller if it was a tumor then it would not get smaller.   He could do surgery tomorrow, or wait 2 weeks and do a MRI after steroid treatment.   I wanted to do surgery tomorrow, brad wanted to wait two weeks.   So to compromise....what marriage is all about.....we decided to wait until Friday and do a week of steroid treatment and then do an MRI.

A week of steroids and he was feeling a lot better except being off balance.

Friday  the 11th- went to hospital did the MRI and the mass had grown to 3.0cm and off to surgery he went.

Before he knew he needed surgery.
